Enchodus  petrosus  email for price                  Item #FF14

Age:  Cretaceous (83 million)

Formation:  Niobrara Chalk

Location:  Gove County, KS

Description:  This is a very rare Enchodus petrosus from the Niobrara Chalk of Kansas.  The skull is complete with just minor repair to the back of it.  There is a minor fracture running through the piece and that is all that has been repaired.  The fracture is present in the dark area at the back of the skull and is about Ό” wide.  The dark area is bone that has root material growing in it and could not be removed.  The upper teeth measure 1. 7/8” long.  Some of the bone is covering part of the upper tooth.  Both jaws are present and complete (difficult to tell in the picture) and all four of the front fangs are present and complete.  The lower jaw measure 8.25” long.  There appears to be part of another fish inside of this one.  The last picture shows the small string of vertebra present.  These vertebra are about half the size of the enchodus’ vertebra.  This fossil is in the original matrix which has been surrounded by an artificial matrix to hold it together.  This has been set in an oak box that measures 21.5” x 19” x 1.5” deep.  For more pictures or the price email us.
